Description
(Reprise..MSK2266) ONLY KNOWN COPY of LEGENDARY TEST PRESSING LP with STOCK COPY LABELS.
Pressed sometime between March 22 - April 8, 1978 at Capitol Records Mfg. - Los Angeles, CA. Issued with
plain white diecut cover with “MSK-2266” written on the front. Acquired mid-April 1978 from a
former WB Records employee who 'saved' this test for me (knowing the title had changed), despite Young's
orders to 'destroy ALL copies' of every run until it was done right (see article for details). As it turned out,
it took four press runs for them to figure out that the audio defect was actually in the master tape and not
because of the engineer. And with so many runs made, other (generic white label) MSK2266 test LPs have
survived --although NONE of them ever look like this very unique ONE-OF-A-KIND copy.
Playing surface is bright & shiny with a few light scuffs but NO scratches or spindle marks.
side 1 trailoff: MSK-1-2266-RE-LW2 side 2 trailoff: MSK-2-2266-RE-LW2
In addition to the LP & original cover, these RELATED ITEMS will be INCLUDED: WB Records Guide To May-
September 1978 Release bulletins, "Give To The Wind due" article cut from May 18, 1978 issue of Rolling
Stone, a first Test Pressing label copy sheet & anything else that I find in my files.
[NO tears, ink marks &/or stains anywhere on labels or cover]
