Seven disks, with programs #1 through #13 of "Flight With Music", which remained on the air for many years after.   A chance to preserve a piece of typical post-war radio.  

Two of these sides from 1946 have early Desi Arnaz as a guest - five years before I Love Lucy!

The sponsor is Rensie Watches, an inexpensive import brand at that time.  The host is Marion Hutton, who at the time was a bigger star than her sister Betty Hutton.  Marion was also married to Glenn Miller when he went missing in WWII.

If you're bidding on this, you likely already know that these are 16 inch diameter transcription disks, which were used to distribute network and syndicated radio programs for years.   These appear to be vinyl.  They are 33 1/3 RPM, and are cut inside out - the needle starts from the inside and runs to the outside.  The first 3 disks were recorded by World Broadcasting System Inc, the remaining 4 disks were recorded by Finley Transcriptions of New York Inc.  All programs run 14:29 with fill, so were intended for 15 minute slots with time to do an ID and the required announcement that the program was pre-recorded.

The condition of the disks is VG - very little sign of wear - by visual inspection.  We made no attempt to clean them or play them.

Most of the labels have markings, but they are all added by station engineers and progammers, showing cue marks or noting date of broadcast.

The sleeves are not all original, but the one that says "World Broadcasting System" with the mark "Rensie" is correct.  Some of the sleeves have slight water damage.  And the NBC Orthophonic sleeve is very cool, even if not correct.

The rest are blank or say "Glass Base - Handle With Care" - but these are vinyl and slightly flexible, so no glass base.

Rensie Watches sponsered the program.  Rensie watches were sold in the US in the late 1940's and into the 1950's.  The commercials are right on the disk.

Program #4  - Guest: The Phil Moore Trio (Hollywood composer and vocal coach etc, in 1953 he recorded a rare bebop Christmas record)

Program #5  - Guest: Desi Arnez (sic)

Program #6  - Guest: Ray Eberle (Vocalist for Glenn Miller Orchestra, brother of Bob in #1)

Program #7  - Guest: Clark Sisters

Program #8  - Guest: Jerry Wayne

Program #9  - Guest: Tony Pastor (played for Artie Shaw and others before starting his own band)

Program #10 - Guest: Danny O'Neil

Program #11 - Guest: Tito Guizar (Opera and pop singer, star of dozens of films, one of the first significant Mexican entertainers in the US)

Program #12 - Guest: Desi Arnaz (they got the spelling right this time)

Program #13 - Guest: Johnny Desmond (pop singer who charted consistantly from 1939 till the late 1950's, and movie actor)

Side #14 - left blank by the production company

This auction is for all 7 disks, with 13 programs.  Shipping is $10 within the US (the $4 allowed by eBay would work for ONE disk, not 7).

Available in another auction is a shipping box that was used multiple times to send transcriptions to or from stations.  

If you win these and the box, there's no extra charge for shipping the box.  We also have a few other transcriptions available, and again, they can ship as part of this package should you win them all.

We have not found this show listed in any of the radio archives we know of - someone needs to grab these and digitize them! :- )
