Comments:   This excellent volume covers the Columbia U.S. matrix series 1 through 4999 (1901 - 1910). Since many records issued during that time are uncredited, this book helps identify all those "mystery" performers. There are sections describing label numbering, physical characteristics, and label photographs.  Also included is a history of the Columbia company from the beginning to 1934.  Appendixes include dating charts, lists of catalogs and other consumer publications, matrix series from 1901 through 1934, and a listing of discographical sources.  An artist index, title index and label index allow for easy reference for any record listed.  This book covers Columbia in much the same way the Fagan/Moran books cover Victor.  Long out of print, and very difficult to find.
