Condition: REPAIRED CRACK through all grooves causes clicks, VERY GOOD PLUs, scuffs, light greying, short noise at start then very quiet distortion on a few top notes
Ada Crossley c.1900 Ada Jemima Crossley (3 March 1874–17 October 1929) was an Australian singer.
Born at Tarraville, Gippsland, Victoria, she was the daughter of Edward Wallis Crossley, ironmonger, and Harriette, née Morris, both from Northamptonshire, England. Ada was the sixth surviving child in a family of twelve children.
Crossley's singing in the country met with so much appreciation that she was sent to Melbourne to be trained, where Sir Frederic Cowen, (who had come from London to conduct the orchestra at the Melbourne International Exhibition of 1888–9), heard her sing and gave her advice. She studied under Madame Fanny Simonsen for singing, and under Alberto Zelman the elder for piano and harmony.[1]
Her first appearance was with the Philharmonic Society at Melbourne in 1889. She sang frequently in Melbourne at concerts and in oratorio, and was the principal contralto in the choir of Charles Strong's[2] Australian Church. She made her début performance in Sydney in January 1892, and also became well known there, too.
In 1894 she went to Europe and studied under Mathilde Marchesi for voice production, and under (Sir) Charles Santley for oratorio work. Her first appearance in London was at the Queen's Hall on 18 May 1895, when she had an immediate success. For many years she held a leading place at music festivals and on the concert platform, and she gave five command performances before Queen Victoria in two years. She was also successful in America, and on returning to Australia in 1904 her tour was a series of triumphs.
She also visited South Africa, and her second tour in Australia in 1908 was again very successful. She sang regularly at English festivals until 1913 but retired a few years later, though she made occasional appearances for charity. She never lost her love for her native country and her London house was always open to young singers and artists from Australia. There they received advice, hospitality, and sometimes assistance, without any suggestion of patronage. In 1905 she married Mr Francis Muecke CBE FRCS. There were no children. She died at London after a short illness on 17 October 1929.

Quick note on grading:
The Grade (Excellent to Poor, I don't give Mint) refers to the WEAR of the record. Any other defects are stated separately
When I listen to a record, I may also give it an aural grade (again E to P), and make a SUBJECTIVE judgment of the pressing quality for hiss and surface noise.
"SUPERQUIET" is basically noiseless, like a vinyl pressing.
"VERY QUIET" is an exceptionally quiet record for a given pressing.
"Quiet" is a record that is a great example without undue noise for a give pressing.
These judgments are SUBJECTIVE and will depend one the styli, phonograph etc. you use on your own equipment.

Records will be packed safely between corrugated cardboard in a sturdy box with plenty of padding for safe shipment.
Shipment is usually Media Mail, unless you request another service. Shipping is at your risk, I will be happy to insure items at your cost.
I charge actual postage plus a small fee for packing materials
As always, I guarantee your satisfaction. If you don't like the item, just return it, and I will refund the full purchase price.

Prices below are for regular 78 rpm records. Up to about 5 records, I will ship Edison Discs for the same rates. Albums from Album Sets count as 1 record. Above that and for international shipments, it will be actual weight plus a small packing charge (1-3$ depending on size of shipment)
1 record: 4.75 – 5.00$
2 records: 6.00$
5 records: 7.50$
10 records: 10.00$
MANY MORE RECORDS: Don't worry. I safely ship 40 - 50 pounds of records double boxed in moving boxes, and even then Media Mail will probably not exceed 35$.

One record usually ships for 25 – 28$ for 10" 35$ for most 12" records (Less for Canada).
