I offer up for auction, this 1904 7" BROWN BERLINER One Sided CONCERT RECORD # 2504 Macdonough & Bieling - Somebody's Waiting 'Neath Southern Skies Brown shellac, 78 rpm, mono, coarse groove, lateral cut, one-sided Berliner Concert Record circa 1904.
In about 1904, a few 7-inch records were released with Concert labels that were usually reserved for 10-inch discs. The "sunken" labels on the Concert Records were brown with gold edging and gold print. On the upper half of the label was the HMV symbol, above which was a note indicating that the record was pressed from a Victor recording for sale and use in Canada only. On the right of the centre hole was the word "Concert" and "Record" to the left. Under the title, performer, and Canadian issue number was printed the company name.
This auction is for Berliner 7 "Concert Record #2504 Macdonough & Bieling - Somebody's Waiting 'Neath Southern Skies , circa 1904. Vocal Duet.
Harry Macdonough's real name was John Scantlebury Macdonald. This Canadian Tenor came from Hamilton Ontario. John H Beiling was an American Tenor, who was also a member of the Hayden Quartet and the American Quartet (2 of the most popular vocal groups of the period). Condition - this record is 115+ yrs old - shows it's age but plays thru and you can hear the recording.
