Virgilio Ranzato (Venice, 7 May 1882 - Como, 20 April 1937) was an Italian composer, author of seventy music for violin and of the opera Campane di Guerra of 1933 on a libretto by Carlo Ravasio. He became known above all as an author of operetta music.

Biography
After his instrumental studies, he began his career as a violinist, performing concerts in Hungary and Austria. Important were his seasons spent at the Scala in Milan, as the first violinist and the tours in North America following Arturo Toscanini. Later he also worked as conductor, but it was the operetta that gave him the greatest satisfaction.

His debut took place in 1911 with the score of the Airplane (libretto by Giuseppe Guidi), staged at the Teatro Balbo in Turin, followed in 1912 by Yvonne with the libretto by Camillo Antona-Traversi and Carlo Vizzotto at the Apollo Theater (Rome). Only four years later he had some success with critics and audiences with the Milanese debut of The legend of the oranges with the libretto by Carlo Caretta and Princivalli Lampugnani at the Diana Theater in 1916, confirmed in 1919 by What is missing from His Highness with the libretto by Giovacchino Forzano, presented at the Quirino Theater in Rome.

But he is known above all for having composed two of the most popular Italian operettas, such as The country of the bells of 1923 and Cin Ci La of 1925.
The King Sausage, by Giulio Bucciolini, also performed, a real musical comedy that premiered in 1932 at the National Politeama of Florence.

In 1924 Luna Park with the libretto by Carlo Lombardo had its world premiere at the Teatro Lirico in Milan.

At the Reinach Theater in Parma in 1925, Il Paese dei Campanelli for the Company of operettas and comic works of the musical house ISAPLIO and Luna park with Nuto Navarrini were staged, in 1926 Cin Ci Là for the Compagnia di operetta La Lombardiana, in 1930 Florentine Cri and Monelli and in 1931 Burano lace.

He also stood out for his concert activity, paired with Umberto Moroni and with the trio (Italian trio) Fano-Ranzato-Ranzato, in the company of his son Attilio. Ranzato's wife Lucilla was also a valiant soprano singer. [1]

In 1927 at the Teatro Lirico in Milan they had the world premiere of The Pink City with the libretto by Carlo Lombardo and Carlo Ravasio and Zizi with the libretto by Carlo Ravasio.

In 1928 Cri-cri with the libretto by Carlo Lombardo premiered at the Teatro Dal Verme in Milan, The dance of the globe at the Politeama Genovese and I merletti di Burano with the libretto by Carlo Lombardo and Carlo Ravasio at the Teatro Lirico in Milan.

In 1932 Prigioni di Lusso with the libretto by Carlo Lombardo and Carlo Ravasio had its world premiere at the Odeon Theater in Milan.

In 1936 they premiered A teogliar torne with the libretto by Giovanni Maria Sala at the Civic Theater of Alessandria and Briciolina with the libretto by Maria Tibaldi-Chiesa at the Arcimboldo Theater in Milan.

A Quick NOTE ON GRADING AND SHIPPING:

As you can see from my feedback, I try hard to earn your POSITIVE FEEDBACK and FIVE STAR RATINGS.

If for any reason your transaction was NOT SATISFACTORY, pls contact me and I will work something out with you. YOU WILL NEVER HAVE A REASON TO GIVE ME A NEGATIVE RATING or a LOW STAR RATING.

Quick note on grading:

The Grade (Excellent to Poor, I don't give Mint) refers to the WEAR of the record. Any other defects are stated separately

When I listen to a record, I may also give it an aural grade (again E to P), and make a SUBJECTIVE judgment of the pressing quality for hiss and surface noise.
"SUPERQUIET" is basically noiseless, like a vinyl pressing.
"VERY QUIET" is an exceptionally quiet record for a given pressing.
"Quiet" is a record that is a great example without undue noise for a give pressing.

These judgments are SUBJECTIVE and will depend one the styli, phonograph etc. you use on your own equipment.
