Description

If you are a fan of the blues, you probably have W.C. Handy to thank. Known as the “Father of the Blues”, Handy composed and published his music over a span of 20 years and was played by every big blues and jazz performer of the 20s and 30s. Here, his Jazz Band played the Washington, Pennsylvania Amory. Handy’s accomplishments as a composter led to numerous awards, parks, and honors in his name.

This poster, measuring 11” x 14”, is on thick paper stock almost as thick as boxing style posters from the 1950s. The paper has some slight waviness to it, so it may have gotten wet at some point in time and then dried. Something was once covering the ticket prices that has now fallen off, leaving some rough paper. There is some slight handling along the top, with a 1/4" rip about 1 3/4” from the top right corner. Each corner would be considered soft, with the bottom right corner showing some spottiness. This is an ultra-rare poster and one of the earliest posters to come through our door.

For collectors seeking truly vintage posters there is no other source that can match the breadth and authenticity of the collection at Wolfgang's Vault. Visit our eBay store to see our other auctions!
