Hensel, Henry, tenor, * 29.10.1874 in Neustadt an der Haardt, † 23.02.1935 Hamburg, he originally wanted to take a commercial profession. He was discovered by the conductor Felix Mottl and studied with Gustav Walter in Vienna and with Eduard Bellwidt in Frankfurt aM 1897, he debuted at the Municipal Theatre of Freiburg i Br as Alessandro Stradella von Flotow. From there he was at the 1900 Frankfurt Opera House, where he served as the inaugural Lyonel role in Flotow's "Martha" was singing, and he belonged to in 1906. In 1902, he joined in Frankfurt in the world premiere of "Sleeping Beauty" by Humperdinck in the game on the Prince. 1906-11 he sang at the Court Theatre of Wiesbaden. There he was greatly admired by the young Richard Tauber. On 23/01/1910 he participated in the world premiere of the opera "Banadietrich" by Siegfried Wagner at the court theater of Karlsruhe. 1911-12 was experienced at the Bayreuth Festival's Parsifal and his lodge in the Ring Cycle. The latter batch 1911-14 he also sang at Covent Garden Opera London. 1911-12 he was at the Metropolitan Opera New York engaged (debut as Siegmund in "Die Walküre"), 1912 at the Opera of Chicago. 1912-29 he worked first as a celebrated hero and Wagner tenor at the Hamburg Municipal Theatre (Opera House). In 1914, he sang both at the Covent Garden Opera London and at the Brussels Opera Parsifal in the local premieres of the work. He has appeared in Copenhagen and Berlin, Vienna and Munich, Paris, Zurich (1907 as Lohengrin, Siegmund and Siegfried 1912) and in Amsterdam, including here 1910 as Lohengrin. In addition to his Wagner roles are from his stage repertoire of Manrico in "Il Trovatore", Tamino in "The Magic Flute," the George Brown in "La Dame blanche" by Boieldieu, Raoul in the 'Huguenots' by Meyerbeer, the Turiddu in » Cavalleria Rusticana "and the Chapelou in" to name a postilion de Lonjumeau "of Adam. Last singing teacher in Hamburg. He was married to the dramatic soprano Elsa Hensel Schweitzer (1871-1937), but separated the two artists back in 1910.

By Heinrich Hensel recordings exist on G & T (Frankfurt, 1903-1906), on HMV gramophones (1908-14), Pathé and Edison Parlophon plates (London, 1912).

[Update] Hensel, Henry, and he was also a student of Oscar Saenger in New York and Jacques piece of gold in Munich. In Frankfurt he sang in 1903 in the premiere of the opera "Götz von Berlichingen" Goldmark the role of the French He made his debut in 1911 at the Metropolitan Opera New York as Lohengrin and then sang Siegmund as Siegfried in the "Ring of the Nibelung" and the Hans in Smetana's "The Bartered Bride". In 1899 he sang at the Vienna Court Opera as Turiddu in "Cavalleria Rusticana", 1908 at the Berlin Court Opera as Chapelou in "Postilion de Lonjumeau" by A. Adam, 1910-11 at the Theatre de la Monnaie in Brussels in the local ring performances, he occurred in all major German opera houses as a guest, including in Stuttgart and Hannover, Karlsruhe and Mannheim and at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. In the twenties he appeared in Berlin (Admiral Palace) in operettas, as well as a concert and lieder singer, he had a successful career.

Quick note on grading:

The Grade (Excellent to Poor, I don't give Mint) refers to the WEAR of the record. Any other defects are stated separately

When I listen to a record, I may also give it an aural grade (again E to P), and make a SUBJECTIVE judgment of the pressing quality for hiss and surface noise.
"SUPERQUIET" is basically noiseless, like a vinyl pressing.
"VERY QUIET" is an exceptionally quiet record for a given pressing.
"Quiet" is a record that is a great example without undue noise for a give pressing.

These judgments are SUBJECTIVE and will depend one the styli, phonograph etc. you use on your own equipment.

Multiple item shipping: I am happy to combine items for shipment in one parcel.

Records will be packed safely between corrugated cardboard in a sturdy box with plenty of padding for safe shipment.

Shipment is usually Media Mail, unless you request another service. Shipping is at your risk, I will be happy to insure items at your cost.

I charge actual postage plus a small fee for packing materials

Prices below are for regular 78 rpm records. Up to about 5 records, I will ship Edison Discs for the same rates. Albums from Album Sets count as 1 record. Above that and for international shipments, it will be actual weight plus a small packing charge (1-3$ depending on size of shipment)

5 records: 8.00$

10 records: 12.00$

MANY MORE RECORDS: Don't worry. I safely ship 40 - 50 pounds of records double boxed in moving boxes, and even then Media Mail will probably not exceed 35$.
