He’s Gone Blues
Blues legend Bessie Smith sings "Careless Love Blues" composed by W.C. Handy on an early electric Race Series Columbia 14083-D accompanied by Louis Armstrong on cornet along with Charlie Green on trombone, and Fletcher Henderson on piano, accompany, recorded in New York on May 26, 1925.
On the reverse side, is "He's Gone Blues" with Fred Longshaw accompanying her on piano and was recorded on June 23, 1925, also in New York.
VJM Grade: V
A motley surface appearance, scratches, scuffs and wear with a 1 inch HLC on the Careless Love Blues side. On this same side is a 4 inch LAM. I can see it at an angle only, was very hard to get a good photo of it, but it is midway of play and runs more horizontal with the grooves. Near the end of play is a needle dig making 4 or 5 light thuds. On the opposite side, where the HLC is on the other side, there is a small outside LAM and a faint crease line also very hard to get a clear photo of. Overall this record plays very good despite the damage, with audible but not intrusive surface noise and only 2 light clicks and the light thuds.
