Hello again, fellow 78 rpm buffs. The job hunt is not going well, so looks like I'm going to have to start selling off my record collection. I've been avidly collecting pre-WWII 78's for over twenty years, so be sure to check my other auctions for goodies. Shipping will be by either Media Rate or Priority Mail shipment (your choice) in the US (or Priority Mail Int'l for international shipment). Ebay mandates that sellers are responsible for insurance now, so insurance is included in the final auction value. And don't worry - I pack very well. Of course I will combine shipping in cases of multiple wins by one bidder, but we should communicate by e-mail first so I can send an accurate invoice rather than your using eBay's automated checkout. Also, I stand by my record grading, but if you are dissatisfied, you may return the record for a full refund of the final auction value. So, here we go with the next item up for bid;
BUGS: PETE RICHARDS AND HIS ORCH. (Willie Jones and His Orchestra) / I CALL YOU SUGAR: THE PLANTATION SERENADERS ( Alex Jackson's Plantation Orchestra), on G+ Champion 15402, recorded 21 Nov. and 27 Oct. 1927, respectively, in Richmond, IN. Couple of hot black territory band jazz sides that don't pop up too often. I found this one in an antique store off Central Ave. in Albuquerque a few years ago, one of few such you ever find here (you'll rarely ever find anything much of interest to prewar 78 enthusiasts here in Albuquerque ! It's all classical, country, Hispanic, or red-label Columbia type stuff.) Playing surfaces have numerous light-to-medium scratches, and there is a small edge flake, not to the grooves, on the first side. Music plays fairly clearly but a little weakly (sounds maybe a bit underpressed or something) through light-to-moderate sizzle/blast. Still 'sort of' enjoyable, especially for something that you don't see all that often. Labels are moderately scuffed. Docks' 6th Ed."E" value would be $ 150-200. No reserve.
