Description
Durium records were released between 1930-1932. They are a cheap alternative to shellac records during the depression when folks could not afford food, never mind records! Thes records were sold weekly from the news stand with the latest songs. They were usually 10" records but the variation on this theme "Durium Junior" reduced the price from 15 cents to 5 cents.
This example is a promotional item for the Myrt & Marge radio drama heard on the listed syndicated stations. It was sponsored by Wrigley's Gum. The show tracks the (mis) adventures of Myrt & Marge in the world of Vaudeville auditions and shows.
Record is in excellent shape and very playable with a "modern" 78rpm turntable with a light tonearm. NOT A VICTROLA!
