Description
They say by 1942, the Yorks created a rocking sound with two guitars and bass, about a dozen years before artists such as Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash recorded with the same instrumentation at Sun Records in Memphis, Tennessee. The York Brothers story appears in the book “Detroit Country Music – Mountaineers, Cowboys, and Rockabillies.”
Search the internet for the York's discography and interesting Detroit background.
Recordings were made in Detroit on the HOT WAX and MELLOW labels.
These were some rockin' cats with some racy lyrics which were sometimes referred to as Hillbilly Novelty records.
This is a nice record. Add it to your collection now. I think this is the 1st York Bros record on Mellow.
Priority shipping suggested, depending on final value. Wait for total. Media mail will require insurance if selected.
