Description
VOGUE PICTURE RECORD R774 (1946) — SONNY DUNHAM AND HIS ORCHESTRA "Desert Fantasy (Scheherazade)" b/w "Save Me a Dream" (Milton Berle, Nick Kenny, Abner Silver; vocal by Pete Hanley)
INCLUDED: Original 1946 Sav-Way Industries (Detroit) Vogue picture record R774 PLUS a vintage-style chalkware "His Master's Voice" Nipper record display stand. Sold together as a ready-to-display set.
THE RECORD: - Authentic Vogue picture record, produced by Sav-Way Industries, Detroit, Michigan, 1946. The Vogue label lasted less than a year (May 1946 to April 1947), making every Vogue a genuine short-run artifact of the big-band era. - Full-color illustrations embedded in clear vinyl over an aluminum core — the famous Vogue construction. Side one: Scheherazade desert-oasis dancer artwork. Side two: blonde pin-up portrait. Both images bright and crisp with strong color. - Includes inset portrait of bandleader Sonny Dunham on each side. - 10-inch, 78 RPM format.
THE STAND: - Chalkware (plaster) record display stand modeled on the Victor "His Master's Voice" trademark: Nipper the dog seated beside a gramophone, embossed VICTOR and HIS MASTERS VOICE lettering. - Unmarked, later production — this is NOT an original Victor/RCA store display and is not represented as period advertising. It is a charming vintage-style display piece that holds a 10-inch record perfectly.
CONDITION — PLEASE READ: - Sold as a display set. The record has NOT been play-tested; Vogue records are collected primarily for their embedded artwork, and this one presents beautifully. - Record: light surface marks and faint lamination lines consistent with age and with Vogue picture-record construction (all Vogues show some lamination character). Images bright, no major cracking, staining, or edge damage noted. - Stand: chip to one top corner with exposed plaster, plus scattered smaller edge chips and paint wear — see photos. Underside is raw plaster, unmarked. Structurally sound and displays well; wear is visible on close inspection. - All flaws photographed. What you see is what you get — we disclose everything.
