Description

I was introduced to a very old lady quite a while back who I was told was moving house and wanted to sell her husbands record collection. There were a couple of surprises when I got there, first they were all in individual brown paper bags, protecting the outer sleeves. Secondly, they were all 50s Philips lps both 10 and 12 inch sized. I mentioned that I was surprised that he collected only Philips, and she said, no, he worked at Philips as a chemist, and these were samples of his finished product. Chemist? I asked, and she said, yes, he developed the polymer for the minigroove era lps. I am only sorry I do not remember her name so I could have added who he was. Anyway, these are all in lovely condition, and I am finally going to sell them after enjoying them myself on several mono carts as I have far too many records. Near mint 1955 PHILIPS Minigroove Cor de Groot in the Rachmaninov piano concerto no.2 with the Hague PO under Conductor  Willem van Otterloo. There's loads of Rach 2's, so why this one?. Wiki says: "He played all over the world and recordings that exist demonstrate a strong sense of structure, a clean rhythmic attack and very precise dynamic shadings". Another blog says "I came across several recordings by Cor de Groot in Paris in 1968 and fell in love with his playing and the sounds he is able to bring forth from the piano. He has a wonderful singing tone, a great sense of structure, and a sensitivity that often belies his technical supremacy. De Groot's perfomance of the Rachmaninov Melodie is stunning. It is, to my taste, perfectly interpreted, and the piano sings beautifully in every register. And pay close attention to the Mozart sonata. This is piano playing of the very highest order. I find it impossible to listen to this performance without a lump in my throat." Our ethos is to offer you best sounding analogue only pressings of vintage records. Here is another beauty of that type.  We offer massive postage subsidies to overseas buyers on multiple purchases. i.e £1 extra per lp to a maximum of £15, then no extra charge. We pack carefully in custom made hard card boxes. If the appearance or playgrade suggests it requires it, our records are cleaned on a wash and vac machine, using art du son fluid in distilled water.  This is already in a new heavy poly outer with antistatic inners added with outer sleeve and records all layered behind each other to prevent splits.
