Self-described on the cover as “Street corner blues ‘bout women and automobiles,” this extremely rare 1956 Cook Road Recordings LP 5002 - “A Dead-beat Guitar and the Mississippi Blues” by K.C. Douglas - is the very first lp of Mississippi Delta Blues. Douglas’ superb country blues vocal and guitar were undoubtedly influenced by Tommy Johnson, Robert Petway, Big Bill Broonzy, and other legendary Mississippi artists. The disc is near mint N- condition. The jacket is in good condition with some soiling and signs of use, 4” split at top right corner, and some short tape repairs on the spine. There is no handwriting on either jacket or label. Titles include: Big Road Blues, Blues, Canned Heat, Casey Jones, Catfish, Had I Money, I Have My Women, I Met The Blues This Morning, Kansas City, Key To The Highway, Mercury Blues. “Over a hypnotically primitive bass, he weaves incredible variations – with his voice and with nimble fingers on the upper strings of his guitar…all couched in a home-grown guitar technique which would be the envy of many a professionally trained performer.”
