Description
This is from a top of the market collection, comprising of just early stereo rarities on Decca HMV, UK Columbia & RCA. First labels issues in Near Mint condition to 99% of them, all described in detail with plenty of pictures. Includes many items rarely seen on ebay.
1963 HMV SAN 101-2 White on Gold Lovro von Matacic conducting the Philharmonia Lehar's complete Merry Widow sung in the original German. Soloists are Gedda, Knapp, Wachter, and Elisabeth Schwarzkopf in the title role. This had the penguin rosette for 25 years that I know of, describing it as Legges masterpiece of his life as an engineer, and the musicianship and total performance as magical. Took me a few years to find my own copy, I remember that, and I was not disappointed.
Labels are ED1 with white angela nd dog to gold backgrounds. The original company inners are present & intact. This set is visually near mint with good sheen & no marks to the playing surfaces, has clean labels with very few spindle marks, and the sleeve is Excellent, as seen in pics, no pen or dirt, no bends.
Good selection of rarities in my list this week..Free anywhere air postage.
