Description
This is from a top of the market collection, comprising of just early stereo rarities on Decca HMV, UK Columbia & RCA. First labels issues in Near Mint condition to 99% of them, all described in detail with plenty of pictures. Includes many items rarely seen on ebay.
1958 First year pressing of Uk Decca SXL 2167/2168/2169 with Karajan & the VPO in Verdi: Aida. ED1 in the Red Wallet rarest 1st type issue. Soloists are Tebaldi, Bergonzi & Simionato. The penguin guide described the reissue of this as a "Spectacular" performance, the greatest of the stereo era. It then later on becomes one of those ultra sought after The Absolute Sound list of audiophile quality recordings, still on the list today.
Labels are ED1 with original recording by.. at ten o clock, with the wide silver band and ffss circle at 12 O' clock. The pristine original company ffss inners are all present. This is near mint with no marks to the playing surfaces, has clean labels and the sleeve is excellent (these shrink a bit, no other problems). Flips are unmarked, no pen or excess dirt, no splits or bends.
Good selection of rarities in my list this week..Free anywhere air postage.
