Description
This the true DOT DLP3535 Surfaris mono LP first pressing. Near mint cover and vinyl. Very, very few offered on eBay now are true first pressings. To be a true first press, they must meet conditions explained below; the album front and back covers have to be exactly like this one. You have been educated and advised.
Back on August 24, 2003, I attended a street fair in Escondido, California to hear the Surfaris play. I showed this album to original band member Jim Pash and he said that it was the very first issue and that even he did not have a copy. He explained that the back cover went from a full photo of all 5 band members, to cropped photo to no photo and then, because band members were not part of the musician's union, DOT pulled it and re-issued a different cover and compilation altogether.
At that time, the two original surviving Surfaris band members Jim Pash and Jim Fuller signed the album back (see photo). Jim Pash died less than two years later in 2005. He was the original saxophone player in the band but picked-up the guitar later in the evolution of the band.
Make this ultra-rare copy of the Surfaris debut album yours. You will never find another one like this.
