Description

We go to estate sales regularly and come across a wide array of unique and rare items.  We add to our growing online inventory daily.  We pick up new items from all over the world and all over the US.  We also have a growing customer wish list.  If you'd like to, feel free to add us to your saved seller's list and let us know what you collect and/or need.  We’d be honored to add you to our customer wish list.

We ask what we consider to be a fair price for anything we sell and understand that our idea of a fair price may be someone else's 'that's too much' price.  If that's the case, feel free to make us an offer and will consider it.  We also have sales regularly, so check back often.

There is always a Sale by TheBay!

We purchased a very large classical and jazz album collection from a former DJ for a local Atlanta area radio station back in the 1950s-1970s years ago.  We bought the collection for the jazz albums, but never got around to listing the classical albums.  Almost every album is a radio station promo album and the are all in exceptional condition with jet black vinyl and look like they could've been pressed yesterday.  We've picked up several other classical album collections along the way as well and we will be listing some individually and some in lots.  It will take us a while to list them all given that we have about 2,000 of them.  As with everything we sell, we offer combined shipping and only charge whatever the quoted rate is based on the total weight for media mail.  If classical vinyl is your thing, feel free to add us to your favorite sellers list and check out our inventory as we add more as often as time permits.

Now onto the item for sale.

For sale is a Radio Station Promo copy of Richard Wagner: Siegfried 5 LP box set with 46 page libretto released by London in the U.S. in 1963.

As you might have noticed, the labels have 'made in England' on them, but this box set was released in the U.S. according to discogs.

PLEASE NOTE: We do not play test albums, as that would take us a lifetime to do for thousands of albums.  We give a visual description and estimated grade of the vinyl.  Please see the pictures above for an idea of the condition of the vinyl, labels, sleeves and album cover or box, if a box set.  If there are any condition issues, such as scratches, seam splits or other issues, we will indicate that in the description.

As you can see, these albums all have jet black vinyl and are exceptionally clean.  We rarely see albums of this age with such remarkably clean vinyl.  We only saw a handful of really light sctaches on all 10 sides of vinyl with the worst being on side 4.  There are a small number very light marks on the vinyl as well that we sometimes see on older albums, but they will almost certainly come off with a proper cleaning, such as an ultrasonic cleaning machine.  However, there are plenty of sites and videos online on how to properly clean spots off of albums without one.  With the marks on the vinyl, we'd estimate that these albums are in excellent to near mint condition.

The labels are exceptionally clean as you can see with a spindle mark or two on a few of the labels.

We only took pictures of both sides of one album, but all of the albums and labels are in similarly remarkable condition.

The album sleeves are all in excellent condition with no seam splits, but all have holes punched through them as described below.

The libretto is in excellent condition as well with no writing, creased or torn pages.  As described below though, there is hole was punched through the top right corner.  We also noticed a few light spots on the bottoms of pages 33 to 38.

The album box is in really nice condition, but as you can see, there are some 'nicks' on the top and the thick paper that acted as a hinge has completely split, so the top is no longer attached to the bottom.

PLEASE NOTE: In case you missed it, there is a hole punched through the top right corner of the box, libretto and album sleeves.  This was one of the ways that unsold albums returned to the distributor from retailers were marked.  We've never seen this on a promo album before, but perhaps they marked promo albums the same way.  We have a 5 LP box set of Die Walkure available for sale as well with a hole punched in the same area, but there is no promo sticker anywhere on or in the set.  It is probably a promo as well, but we obviously can't be sure.

This album set will weigh more than 3 pounds and will be shipped in a cardboard album box via media mail with the USPS.

Thanks for looking and God bless!
