Offered from an estate collection is this extremely rare 45 rpm vinyl recording of Cher's first solo song - "Ringo, I Love You" - as the artist Bonnie Jo Mason. Condition is very good, with the record playing through with no skips. Some surface wear/light scratching. The Beatles tribute single was recorded in 1964 at the height of Beatlemania under the management of Phil Spector, who is also given co-writing credit on the record. It's also the first song recorded under the label named after Spector's first wife, Annette. Annette is given writing credit for the flipside instrumental tune "Beatle Blues." The story goes that Spector wanted American names for his singers and Cherilyn La Piere was not a name he considered sufficiently American. The single didn't chart nationally, and it's been suggested radio stations didn't play the record because they thought Cher's extremely low vocals were from a man. Spector took no producer credit, the record did not appear on Philles Record, his usual label, and the track does not have his usual Wall of Sound production techniques.
