\                                                            USA - rainbow Capitol - ST 2666 - stereo

ORIGINAL 1966 vinyl in clean shape, it's the very first STONE PONEYS on the rainbow Capitol label of the sixties ...this guitar trio feature a then unknown female voice by name of Linda Ronstadt who also plays finger cymbals in this memorable melodic and breezy folkrock setting that includes the West Coast hamonies of the mid sixties (see early Byrds) along with some pro backing like more weaving guitars, bouzouki, and even drums by then Mothers Of Invention percussionist Billy Mundi ... The Stone Poney's in '66 were a hit at various clubs along the Sunset Strip scene of Los Angeles where some important bands of the time played (Byrds,Love,Leaves,Hour Glass,Springfield, etc) making it the hot spot on the West Coast, before the Montery Pop Festival and the San Francisco hippie gathering of the following year.

 back cover notes:

The Stone Poneys is a gentle trio....What The Stone Poneys do in a clear, crisp style is offer a lovely bouquet of musical flowers and wheat, the beauty and staff of life.
The first Poney is Linda Ronstadt, described by a friend as "Peter Pan still looking for Shadow". She is from Tuscon, Arizona, where she grew long black hair and big brown eyes.
The second Poney is Bob Kimmel. He is from Tuscon too, is the leader of the group, tries to keep watch over the others because he is a little bit older. He is the one with the beard.
The third and final Poney is Ken Edwards. He is not from Tuscon (he is a Californian), has a mop of curly hair, plays lead guitar, is sort of quiet and moody. He is the tall one.
The Stone Poneys is a nice group. Just like the good old days. They are not to be confused with anyone (or anything) else. Period.
Tell your best friends.
