SIDE ONE Jesus Use Me In Times Like These When I Stand With God He Touched Me I'm Nearer Home Until Then SIDE TWO Do You Know My Jesus I'm Too Near Home At The Crossing It's So Wonderful Just A Closer Walk How Great Thou Art During the Summer of 1964 conversation among four Laymen of Trinity Methodist Church, Poquoson, Virginia resulted in the formation of a Gospel Quartet, with Wilbur Quinn, former member of Trinity but now a member of Emmaus Baptist Church as their accompanist. After a few months of rehearsing lhey elected Judson (Buck) Shackleford as manager and adopted the name of The Laymen Quartet, since each of them is an active dedicated Christian Layman, involved in many activities of their respective churches. Subsequently they have presented many Gospel Sings a1 The Methodist Assembly Center, Blackstone, Virginia; on the Eastern shore of Virginia; in Tide- water, Virginia for Conference and District Retreats; Church Revivals and Lodges. They have participated with professional groups of the local Gospel Sing As- sociation, on radio, T-V, and community programs. Individually you will enjoy the voices of each member as: Ben Wilson, tenor, sings He Touched Me; Keith Goodson, lead, sings I'm Nearer Home; Henry (Bubba) Forrest, a natural baritone, joins them in At The Crossing, and Buck Shackleford, bass, solos, In Times Like These. Wilbur Quinn acts as M. C. during public appearances. The aim of "THE LAYMEN GOSPEL QUARTET" is a message in song tc their listeners that living a Christian life should be the foremost objective ot every person. This quartet gives most generously of their God given talents when and wherever they are called in a witness of Christian service in Gospel music.
