Very CLEAN, 1969 original first pressing by a special crew of British bluesrock greats...

The Aynsley Dunbar Retaliation featured guitarist/vocalist John Moorshead, bassist Alex Dmochowski, and organist Victor Brox and Aynsley Dunbar on drums. The Retaliation released 4 highly collectible and worthy albums from 1969-1972, including this self-titled 2nd Lp. If you like Peter Green era Fleetwood Mac or at least think it was respectable, you might want to give this a try. The structure is similar, but the dryness is somewhat lubricated with the piano sharing the leads. Aynsley is a drummer so expect more and longer percussion. A couple different types of guitars share leads with an organ on “Memory Pain” with the end result being the signature British Blues song. On their self-titled 2nd album, the Aynsley Dunbar Retaliation flashed a British blues-rock approach that was rather similar to that of Peter Green led Fleetwood Mac and John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers circa 1967. That was unsurprising considering that leader and drummer Dunbar had played on the Bluesbreakers' 1967 A Hard Road album, and that bassist Alex Dmochowski would later play with Mayall himself. Everyone in the Aynsley Dunbar Retaliation were skilled players, the record ultimately comes off as a little heavier and darker a style than Mayall's Bluesbreakers and stands up well in the upper levels of British 60's bluesrock. Victor Brox is a good singer and while Jon Morshead plays guitar well, his style sometimes seems quite influenced by Peter Green (listen especially to his work on "Memory of Pain"). "Watch 'N' Chain" bears similarities to the tune that Donovan popularized under the title "Hey Gyp" and the band gets a chance to take extended solos on "Sage of Sidney Street" and "Mutiny." ~
