1969 heavy swervy ORGAN Psych Prog ~ Rare *VINYL* Original!

Original 1969 VINYL first pressing on the old pink and orange United Artists in thick gatefold with eye-popping cover art ~~  gotten real hard to find, 1969 underground hard rock longhairs with a lot of gushing & roaring hammond organ. Influenced by the Doors and Iron Butterfly and similar to the album by Julius Victor. It’s the kind of thing that can hit the spot if you’re in the right mood.

"Valhalla" is yet another forgotten group with a (selftitled) sole album. It mixes heavy rock, prog and psych with a predominant organ and powerful vocals on tracks like "Psychedelic Minds Going Nowhere" and "Overseas Symphony".

Valhalla's only album is a mix of end-of-the-'60s psychedelic and heavy rock influences. While not exactly outstanding or original, it has its enjoyable aspects,and is rightly sought after --  especially for those who enjoy late-'60s combinations of bluesy hard organ and bluesy hard rock guitar. It is also slightly reminiscent of early Deep Purple and -- more distantly, especially in the  penetrating organ -- the Crazy World of Arthur Brown. Throw in some more guitar-oriented hard rock with songwriting and riffs reminiscent of Cream and the "Happenings Ten Years Time Ago"-era Yardbirds, and it's a little surprising to learn that this band came from Long Island, not Britain.

At times, too, the record takes strange right turns, like they couldn't quite iron out their more uncommercial aspirations -- which makes it kind of charmingly primitive in a way, a good thing and these IS some pretty commanding lead vocals and organ, which put it a notch above many secondary psychedelic albums of this kind.

CONDITION: The gatefold cover has light wear, VG+ solid seams, just very light wear started so still makes for a fine collectible for those who are not rediculous picky, and if you are, that's cool, being a self satisfying hobby, but this cover should do well in most 'heads' collections...getting too rare by the way

The vinyl has very few, couple or so, superficial light hair line scuffs, nothing much, glossy all over both sides, so....grab it and turn up the heavy rockin' psych storm....VALHALLA!  

      A cool addition to anyone's music library!
