Ultimate Spinach LP Yellow Label Promo “RECUT 3” Mix

Almost as a means of crossing out their first self-titled LP, I’ve always liked this one a lot better.  They’ve done away with the corny poetry, delivered with pseudo-Shakespearean William Shatner intensity, as well as the ambling repetitive jams that went nowhere on the first LP.  This one is much more organized as an album, and it contains my all-time favorite instrumental track of theirs, “Eddie’s Rush.”  A great blues-rock instrumental, and a groovy album!  Anyway, enough with the personal review…

Please note that the labels are both bright yellow!  The dark discolorations in the photos are shadows that my camera picked up!

Cover---As with a lot of DJ covers I’ve dealt with over the decades, this one has very solid seams and spine.  No splits, and just a little to moderate shelfwear.  Some tiny spots of missing slick, some cracking of the slick, but not the seam itself.  Front and back covers have moderate to heavy ringwear, but no dirtwear.  MGM’s DJ sticker is still present and in nice condition.  A little dirty.  Name written on front cover.  (Why did people DO that?!)

Inner Sleeve---the original MGM company sleeve from the late-60’s is present and in very strong condition.  Some yellowing, the sleeve has no seams splits at all, lies flat, and retains most of its vibrant collage color.  There is a factory crease in the upper corner.  Your Ultimate Spinach promo LP will ship in a white sleeve, so as not to seam-split your original MGM sleeve during shipment to you.

Vinyl---Supernice, although not near mint.  Both sides have a brand new gleam to them, but under the bare bulb test, there are several spidery light lines that are all soft, and that do not affect playback.  (I have listened to this copy a few times in the past week.)  Plates are the “RECUT 3” DJ plates.  Although this is the same mix as the commercial release, these plates were pressed with a hotter mix, in order to broadcast well on both AM and FM frequencies.

(Please note that due to time constraints, I have had to stop play-testing my vinyl.  However, I am happy to by request.  As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)
