1970 1st flipback TAS List Audiophile Sibelius En Saga & other Tone Poems from Dorati & the LSO. UK EMI ASD 2486 with earliest colour stamp labels without a white circle to the labels rims, as called for. The sleeve is dated January of 1970 by the printer. The owner has made a little 1 mark for each playing of this, five times for side 1 and six for side 2. Normally pen marks are unwelcome, but this instance is very welcome indeed, as it confirms the lovely sheen to the unmarked playing surfaces of a low plays first press of a very sought after collectable with wonderful sound. Dorati excells himself here. He had spent some time on scandinavia preceding this recording, and his grasp of the composers intentions is thorough and shows in some lovely inner detail in the reading, which will bear repeated listens with new revelations each time. It may just have the edge on the similar Barbirolli issue which I am also very fond of.
No marks to playing surfaces, Near Mint condition record, in Near Mint sleeve (save for the 9 little 1's). Record is not warped, labels are clean with very few spindle marks. Company inner included.
