PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us. Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over 18,000 positive feedback. We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING: USA ~ 1 LP = $4.00 Media Priority rates vary by area; please inquire. WARNER BROTHERS - 3012
This is the very scarce (as MINT CLEAN) very first pressing from near 50 years ago and happens to be the FIRST "rock" picture disc release which was a phenomenon in rock music at the time. A visual eye-striking beauty it is (check both photos for just that!)
Please realize the manufacturing of such picture disc releases had not perfected audio playback at the time (case in point 1973 "Saturnalia" 'Magical Love pic disc.) Though the Curved Air audio is bright and strong, we refer to bits of light surface in the manufacturing process in 1970.
****PLEASE NOTE: We have play tested this copy and found it with remarkably far better audio (far less bits of underlying surface.) Over the past many years, we've had copies of this album - none played as well as this copy - which is important to understand!)

The SCARCE in TOP CONDITION like this, release in 1970, Air Conditioning marks the emergence of Curved Air as a force within the realm of progressive music. This is a great Curved Air album and would make an excellent addition to ANY English psych/progressive rock collection.
It was the powerful lead-off track "It Happened Today" that fired up the notice of into Curved Air in the first place.
The musicians on Air Conditioning include Sonja Kristina (lead vocals); Darryl Way (electric violin and vocals); Francis Monkman (electric guitar; Hammond organ; mellotron; electric harpsichord, special effects, VCS3 synthesizer, and piano); Robert Martin (electric bass; backing vocals); and Florian Pilkington-Miksa (drums and percussion). All of the band members are fantastic and Daryl even received formal musical training at the Royal College of Music. Both individual and ensemble virtuosity is high, which was characteristic of the English progressive rock bands in general. Although there is some superb keyboard work on the album, there is also a lot of hard-edged electric guitar work that seems to me to be more of a 1960's psychedelic holdover than anything else. With time however, the emphasis on the electric guitar would fade away and by the time of their album " Phantasmagoria " Francis would favor a more keyboard dominated approach. Sonja's lead vocals are superb and really contribute to the unique Curved Air sound, although they are not featured as prominently as on later albums by the group.
The ten tracks range in length from 1:35 to Darryl's track Vivaldi (7:28). Musically, this is a heady mixture of psychedelic rock, progressive rock, classical, and experimental approaches along with some delicate acoustic moments (the flowing track Blind Man is a good example). Perhaps the most 1960's sounding track on the album is the jam-heavy Propositions, which is dominated by heavy/spacey/psychedelic electric guitar work and excellent drumming. Darryl's instrumental piece Vivaldi features the violin as a solo instrument with a thunderous accompaniment by the entire band. Fan fave is also the acoustic keyboard led track Situations (Francis does a great job on keys.) Elsewhere, the track Screw, works together as a complete progressive-rock whole.
All in all, this is another great album of progressive rock by Curved Air that is highly recommended
