HARD TO FIND 1970 high-end Swedish deluxe pressed from the British metal masters that has to be *heard* to be believed!
This is also the first Swedish Harvest Records release of the album that does not have PINK FLOYD's band name on the front or back cover which is highly desired since most copies to be found contain the bands "Pink Floyd" name on the front of the gatefold. This is one of the most CLEAN copies we've had the pleasure to see - and/or offer. By the way within the year of the albums 1970 release, Harvest Records started putting an identifying "Pink Floyd" STICKER on the front "Atom Heart" cover after which Harvest printed the name on the cover which is the version most fans own. The "no name" gatefold cover has become harder to find than you may think in MINT condition like this copy being auctioned . (see details after song listings)

One of the highly underrated Pink Floyd album's and one of the Floyd's more experimental albums ~~ a fact which is emphasized by the opening and closing tracks. The opener is the title track "Atom Heart Mother", a 23 minute spacey epic. The song features great orchestration, sound effects aplenty, and most importantly, some outstanding keyboard work from Rick Wright. The album's three middle songs are more conventional. "If" is a Roger Waters love song, and is one of those rare songs of his showing off his sentimental side. "Summer '68" is a Rick Wright song, and is one of his best vocal efforts ever. It also features some great keys and an incredible chorus. The song is truly a classic, and the best of the album. Then there's David Gilmour's "Fat Old Sun". This is a gentle, uplifting spacey guitar piece with a great guitar solo, and has the kind of life that "If" was lacking. The album then closes with the experimental "Alan's Psychadelic Breakfast". The song is composed of a recording of one of the band's roadies cooking breakfast, and in between, three sections of music. The first is a floating Rick Wright keyboard solo, the second is David Gilmour delivering a starkly beautiful guitar performance, and the third is an outstanding full band jam, finishing the album off perfectly. Although not one of Pink Floyd's more accessible albums, Atom Heart Mother is a brilliant one, and should be in the collection of any serious prog fan.
