Another important one was the return of “Hee- Haw” to a prime-time weekly schedule over network television, also in January, 1970. No question about it—country music is really coming into its own. There also exists a number of other “spe- cifics” in the form of syndicated country music TV shows that are produced in Nashville, Ten- nessee, known far and wide as Music City, U.S.A., all of which have met with great suc- cess. One of the longest running and most pop- ular of these is The Wilburn Brothers’ Show, starring two of country music’s most beloved stars, Teddy and Doyle Wilburn. As a sing- ing duo of international fame, The Wilburn Brothers have won more polls in their category than any other active or inactive duo in country music. Their in-person appearances, their best- selling recordings and their total dedication in promoting and furthering the cause of country music all over the world have made a secure niche for them in the wonderful world of coun- try music. In a way, this collection of country music chestnuts can also be counted among the stal- wart “specifics” that have helped place coun- try music in the leader’s corner—first-rate re- cordings of the music people want to hear. The title song, / Walk The Line, was written by the afore-mentioned Johnny Cash, and other selec- tions include well-known favorites by other writer-singer personalities such as Don Gib- son, Buddy Mize, Don Helms, Ivory Joe Hunter and Teddy Wilburn.
