Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. Formed in 1970, in Los Angeles, California, BETTY is not to be confused with New York-based vocal group with the same name, but they did find great popularity throught in the Californian music scene ... Betty never was a big band, as much that the original album sold only 200 copies mostly in California rendering it extinct. Somewhere in the mix of the psychedelic sound from The Doors with the heavy boogie rock influences from Canned Heat, with bluesy vocals and hard-fuzzy guitars. Handful is an interesting and frustrating album, but not because of any of the songs on it. The ten tracks are standard for the time period and show that the musicians were competent if not particularly imaginative songwriters. Opener "Boogie with You" has a distinct roadhouse feel reminiscent of the Doors or Canned Heat. Guitarists Mike McMahon and Anthon Davis lay down some chugging guitar licks accented by Tom Jordan's keys and an able rhythm section comprising Al Rodriguez on drums and Kerry Kanbara on bass. And the other nine songs on the album are variations on this theme. "Blind with Shame" contains some infectious guitar hooks and a catchy chorus, and "Thank You" features organ and blues riffs with Moby Grape-inspired hard chords. On "Lights Gonna Shine," the band travels the farthest afield by trading out the shouted lyrics and boogie sensibility of the other tracks for a more folk-oriented point of view. The result, by far the most interesting track on the album. It's nearly impossible not to wonder what became of Betty. The story with Handful is that over 40 years ago an outlaw underground longhair band scraped together enough money to press two hundred copies of an album to sell at their shows.
