Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. Sought after ~ ORIGINAL 1971 issue of the FIRST album from by this German progressive rock group (the title is in reference to an album they made in 1970 when they were called "The Royal Servants"). Notable as one of the early Krautrock bands that could be comparable to "2066 & Then" or "Necronomicon." The hard-to-forget gatefold-cover illustration features a picture of a chicken standing in a frying pan -- in the seventies things like this were called "outrageous". Eulenspygel were a wild bunch of music freaks who carried that certain underground German 70's vibe with homemade organ grinds, heavy bass and guitar overlays with heavier vocals, with a superb careful mix of , prog psych fusion and rock that is pretty cleverly arranged and mixed with great imagination, color and tempo shifts. When the Royal Servants (from southern Germany) had already released the album 'We' in 1970, the band decided to dub their first release under their new name Eulenspygel '2' to some confusion. The change in the groups name was really not such a big thing compared to the change in musical style. The Royal Servents Lp 'We' was influenced by the American '60s west coast sound (Doors, Santana, Steppenwolf). Eulenspygel on the other hand was full of the quirky idiosyncrasies that made krautrock so wonderful, and hence '2' is actually an excellent psych-prog album! Musically, the mix is similar to other TOP Krautrock bands of this era, complex moves in stretchedout progressive rock rhythms, heaps of tortured Hammond organ, ripping psychedelic effected Guitar with sharp razor leads, whirling flute, and many different motifs lined up end to end to create complete tracks without necessarily any logical connection. And in that way, we always find this stuff to be great fun... hardly ever predictable! Lyrically (the translations not provided), the band was obviously very interested in liberal causes, because the songs are typically about the environment, capital punishment and over-commercialization. The album's cover (which was later changed by the record company) is obviously some sort of statement, showing a live chick standing in a frying pan over the sizzled remains of another chick. - Matthias Thurow / guitars,
