Audio Magazine Issue 1 + Audio Flexi Record
This is a copy of the first issue of Audio magazine from November 1972 complete with audio flexi record. The magazine features lots of vintage ads for hi-fi and accessories including Amstrad, Philips, SME, Leak, Keletron, Wharfedale, Thorens, Eagle International, abd Pioneers. It carries features on Stereo Audio Systems, Stars and Sounds Of Europe, Headphones, What Is Good Recorded Sound?, Test Reports, Reviews, Tape Talk and Audio Past Present and Future.
To accompany the latter feature the magazine also includes a unique long-play 33 rpm 7-inch two-sided flexi disc featuring BBC Radio presenter Richard Baker introducing a history of recorded sound including early recordings on phonograph, magnetic tape recording process and the introduction of stereo sound in the 1930s and multi-track recording. The second side is a feast of electronic music and effects made by various synthesisers (“Music of The Space Age” ) including some examples by EMS founder Peter Zinovieff (Lollipop For Papa played on the VCS3 Putney), Francis Monkman and Manfred Mann (Messin’ featuring the Moog), etc.
The flexi disc is in near mint condition, the magazine is complete although some pages have come loose. Sellotape mark on two pages (presumably where the flexi was originally adhered to the magazine).
