PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Original 1972 first pressing in thick grainy gatefold and includes a tremendously HUGE group poster - one of the largest posters ever issued in an album....
Oh, by the way -- this is a top notch Canned Heat effort! They've got Little Richard in the house and there's not a dull moment on this album.
Back when “Blind Owl” Wilson overdosed, it looked like curtains for Canned Heat. In an effort to keep on jamming, Canned Heat 1972 added back the legendary "Henry Sunflower Vestine" who had left the original group (and was replaced by Harvey Mandel) as lead guitarist. Historical Figures and Ancient Heads LP also added a new bassist & drummer as well as Joel Scott Hill on guitar and secondary vocal, with a guest spot for Little Richard himself. By 1971 the band retired the “boogie” theme for a more ballsy rock ‘n blues format -- a new band gleaming and ready to be accepted.
Side One is the stomping side – sizzling with good new bluesy rock ‘n roll. Completely charged by Little Richard on “Rockin’ with the King” where the Georgia Peach plays honky-tonk piano and shares the arrogant lyrics with Bob "The Bear" Hite -- and that’s the way it should be. Elsewhere “Long Way From L.A.” gives a good run-for-the-money which epitomizes all the “gotta-get-my-ass-back-home” theme songs.
Well, if you’re gonna change the tune of a band, you might as well go all out. Canned Heat also added a Mexican rhythm section with Adolfo de la Parra and Antonio del la Barreda on drums and bass respectively. The two jam away, weaving in and out between all the verses with their tasty subdued Latin-flavored style meshed with the classic Canned Heat styled blues rock.
Side Two is the setting for the extended jam tunes “That’s All Right” and “Utah,” the former being Harvey Mandel’s homecoming cut. These two tracks seem to best describe the new and refreshed state of the band. They did not lose their snotty sense of raw humor, or their snotty sense of raw instrumentation. The group tried their utmost to produce a great album… and succeeded.

The vinyl: Clean and glossy over both sides, rated: M- TOP COPY expect play grade to be with very enjoyable audio...NO distracting surface problems ... both labels are clean
