We have a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 2/3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers.
We mail all paid orders out once a week on Fridays/Saturdays. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule to Monday. We strive to keep our shipping and handling costs as close to actual charges as reasonable. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. Please be aware we have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.

RARE...ORIGINAL 1973 first pressing on the spaceship Vertigo label by this highly rated atmospheric "Krautrock" prog/psych crew who made several impressive albums in the early 70's...
An unusual and unique group, the German group Between was the brainchild of musical theorist and experimentalist Peter Michael Hamel. As such, Between drew together a wide range of international musicians into a musical and cultural melting pot. And The Waters Opened with its atmospheric dronings is probably Between's most innovative and fascinating, it's an album that oozes beauty and mystery. Haunting and evocative, it's almost chilling!
And The Waters Opened begins with the second track, the title track. At first, you would be forgiven for thinking this was Michael Rother/NEU! performing "Im Glück" but with the sliding tone courtesy of the motocello, not the guitar. The tone slides upwards, more insistent, matched by an electronic ocean, lapping, frothing. Both ebb as the congas emerge. Eventually the tide returns, with the rest of the band in tow, all rejoycing as the acoustic guitar gently brings the track to a close.
The oboe leads "Uroboros" in a repeating figure emulating Arabic music. A dense counterpoint (I'm a little confused at this point, as it sounds like the oboe is backing itself, but they did not have multitrack facilities - and from where is the bass sound coming?) builds up only to dissipate into a series of commentary from the other instruments as the oboe continues unabated. "Syn", however, is pure minimalism. Organ filigree elaborates from the inside massive swoops of motocello drone.
The second, more spiritual, side of the LP picks up the pace. "Devotion" is a mantra based around the name "Satchidananda", a swami whose disciples included Allen Ginsburg and Alice Coltrane. As you would guess, this track betrays quite an Indian influence, but is not a raga and dispenses with traditional instrumentation. (The same melody is reused on the side-long title track of their almost-equally classic followup, "Dharana".)
"Happy Stage" plunges deeper into a raga-bliss as the oboe and flute entwine while guitar plays the role of tambura and sitar. Though Peter Michel Hamel cowrote this piece, he seems happy to just provide a few tasteful accents from the piano. The abrupt finish almost runs into the album's finale, "Samum": guitar returns us to Arabia which, after continuation in the oboe, recedes against the howl of cosmic wind.

CONDITION: The cover is laminated fragile and clean, near "EX" (excellent) with no problems...would easily be something we would have in our own collection...
The vinyl both sides are glossy...one side has several fine light hairthins, VG(+) visual, that side starts off with low surface and gets better, the other side has only a few little light scuffs, nothing much visually, VG++ and play graded with a little bit of surface only with much playing very well. This album was very delicate to begin with and even the cleanest copies have SOME light surface crackle, so take it from there....
