This box set comes from the 1977 Rankin/Bass animated version of The Hobbit, animated by Topcraft, a precursor to Studio Ghibli. It was first broadcast on NBC in the United States on Sunday, November 27, 1977. Orson Bean was the voice of Bilbo Baggins; John Huston- Gandolf; Richard Boone - Smaug; Hans Conreid - Thorin Oakenshield; Otto Preminger - The Elven King; Brother Theodore - Gollum; Cyril Richard - Elrond, and Glenn Yarbrough as The Balladeer. The last is important as there was a separate album of Glenn Yarbrough Songs from the Hobbit Soundtrack also released by Buena Vista Records (5007) in 1977. *This is the third album in the box, which sort of makes up for two missing elements - the iron-on shirt transfers and the poster.
All corners on the box have split but have been neatly taped with heavy duty clear tape. Records are VG/VG+, Graded visually, they haven't been played. Scarce set, no released on any other media.
