Description

1980 Sundowners Chicago Western Music Legends M- 1st LP (Sundowners)

Sundowners – “Same” (EJ 38120). Great 1980 private press LP by this Chicago based group. The Sundowners trio first got together back in the 1950s after all three migrated to Chicago. Lead guitarist Walls hails from Logan, W.Va.; rhythm guitar player Boyd from Chattanooga, Tenn.; and bass player Curt Delaney from Moultrie, Ga. They played clubs in the Chicago area for 33 years before opening the Sundowners Ranch in Franklin Park in 1990 and though they never toured or scored a hit, their repertoire of 25,000 songs made them hugely influential on the alt-country scene in Chicago. Cuts on this, their 1st LP, include: “Tumbling Tumbleweeds”; “Ghost riders in the Sky”; “You Don’t Know What Lonesome is”; “Big Black Mountain”; “Blue Shadows”; “Little Green Valley”; “Dreamin’ Cowboy”; “Cool Water”; “Timber Trails”; “Cimmeron”; “and “My Best to You.” Record and cover (Shrinkwrap) are in M- condition. Postage will be paid by purchaser.
