Description

This record dropped in early 1987 and features Biz Markie on the Human Beat Box on the B side cut "Freestyle Live". Biz Markie first appeared on the Roxanne Shante record "Def Fresh Crew" in early 1986, basically doing the same thing: providing the human beatbox. Later in 1986, Prism Records released the debut record for Biz Markie called "Make The Music With Your Mouth Biz". So when Pop Art records released this record in early 1987, they couldn't put Biz Markie's name on the record. "Nobody Beats The Biz" came out around the same time as this record, also on Prism Records, and Roxanne Shante's Cold Chillin' Records debut "Have A Nice Day" came out a few weeks later. It was speculated back then that Pop Art records released this record with material that was previously recorded just to capitalize on Roxanne Shante and the Juice Crew one last time. And since Marley, Biz and Shante were all down with new record labels, they couldn't put their names on the record, and they put "Roxanne (Fly) Shante" on the record because they couldn't use her main name "Roxanne Shante". This was just speculation but I heard it from multiple sources. Despite all that, this record is dope! So dope that Asher D & Daddy Freddy would steal the Pay Back beat for their debut record "Ragamuffin Hip-Hop" later in 1987.
