Featuring the great singing of Thornton Spencer on fiddle, Emily Spencer, guitar, and Flurry Dow on Banjo.
Description: Here are two great lp's by the old time string band of Albert Hash from southwest Virginia in the Mt. Rogers/Galax area. Features Albert Hash on fiddle; Thornton Spencer on guitar and fiddle; Emily Spencer on guitar and vocals; Flurry Dow on Banjo. and Tom Barr on Banjo (on the "Cacklin Hen record). The records are both on Mountain Records--WHITETOP (Mountain 311--1976) and CACKLIN' HEN (Mountain 313--1977). A great find for the old-time and bluegrass fan.
Cuts include: WHITETOP: SIDE ONE: Lost John; Hangman's Reel; Rabbit Up a Gum Stump; Old Sport; Little Brown Hand; Nancy Blevins; SIDE TWO: Storms Are on the Ocan; My Child is Gonna be a Miner; Single Gilr; Green Valley Waltz; Dugannon; I Never Will Marry.
CACKLIN' HEN: SIDE ONE: Cacklin' Hen; Sweet as Flowers in Maytime; Whispering Wind's Flop-Eared Mule; Raggedy Ann; Coming Down From God; Leather Britches; Dream of the Miner's Child; Shortning Bread; Don't Whip Your Wife on Sunday; Cumberland Gap; Angel Band.
Condition: Vinyl on both records is bright and clean with no evident wear. Covers show only slightest handling wear. (See Photos) Using Ebay’s Suggested LP Grading Scale --Overall vinyl (we try to be conservative in our grading) Excellent; Jacket Excellent.
