Description
Here are two fairly scarce record albums from GERALD HEARD, author/historian/philosopher/lecturer titled REFLECTIONS and INDICATIONS. Both were released on the World Pacific label in 1959. Covers have some damage from a house fire but records are excellent.
Tracks on REFLECTIONS include:
- Selected verses from the Book of Psalms
- After a prayer of Rabbia, the early Moslem woman saint who was the first Sufi
- After a prayer of St. Bernard of Clairvaux
- After a prayer of Fenelon, Archbishop of Cambria
- From the Gelesian Sacramentary - possible Seventh Century A.D.
- A prayer of Cleanthes, the second founder of Stoicism
- Paraphrased from the Tao Ching of Lao Tzu
- Selected verses from De Adherendo Deo which is attributed to St. Albertus Magnus
- St. Augustine
- Paraphraed from the Upanishads
- Selected verses from Hertha by Charles Algenon Swinburne
- Selected verses from The Higher Pantheism by Alfred Tennyson
- After a prayer by St. Anselm, Archbishop of Canterbury
- Selected verses from I Am The Way, by Alice Meynell
On INDICATIONS, "Mr. Heard poses a fascinating and completely new concept: the possibility that love, as we can know and practice it, may be the long journey from a natural complete engrossment with self, through a gradual growing interest-affection for others, and on to what he defines as being the ultimate love - an unlimited liability towards all of life."
Covers have bumped and rubbed corners, partial seam splits, some staining, and fading on the front of Indications. Vinyl has some paper scuffs and a few very light scratches. They are both in EXCELLENT (NM-) CONDITION.
