Description
2 "The Red Foley Show" Radio Show Transcription Discs. Two complete 30 minute radio programs on these two 16 inch, vinyl, 33 1/3 rpm discs. These discs were issued to radio stations for broadcast only and not available to the general public, very rare!
Both of these discs are stamped "Played By Sapporo AFRS" and were issued for broadcast for U. S. Troops in occupied Japan after World War Two
Both programs star Red Foley, The Jordanaires, The Cumberland Valley Boys. Music is by The Owen Bradley quartet featuring Grady Martin, Billy Robinson
Program #11 from May 20, 1950 with guests Dottie Dillard & Cecil Bailey. Songs include “Tennessee Polka” vocal Red Foley, “The Gods Were Angry With Me” vocal Doddie Dillard & Cecil Bailey, “Billy In The Lowground” featuring Grady Martin on fiddle, “In The Sweet By And By” vocal The Jordanaires, “Foggy River” vocal Red Foley”, “Mountain Girl” vocal The Jordanaires, “In My Dreams” vocal Red Foley & Chorus. Red Foley reads the poem “Around The Corner”
Program #14 from June 1, 1960 with guest Jimmie Selph. Songs include “Freight Train Blues” vocal Red Foley with Grady Martin on guitar, “Sweet Genevieve” vocal The Jordanaires, “It’s A Sin” vocal Jimmie Selph, “Panhandle Rag” with Billy Robinson on steel guitar, “This World Is Not My Home” vocal Red Foley, “Careless Hands” vocal Jimmie Selph, “Joshua Fit The Battle Of Jericho” vocal The Jordanaires. Red Foley reads the poem “The Old Hymns”
I could not find any reference to any existing copies of these radio programs in any online radio log or database
Discs are in Very Good condition with light surface scratches. Sound varies from Very Good to Excellent-, program #11 starts out a little noisy but the sound improves as the disc goes on
Due to their size, 16 inch discs may not play on standard turntables. I will make a CD dub of both discs for the buyer only
