Description

2 TIM BUCKLEY LPs “STARSAILOR”1970 & “SEFRONIA”1974 Good/VG VINYL Fair/VG covers. Both LPs have been pro-cleaned, and are in new white inner sleeves.  Please read carefully, please check all photos and feel free to ask questions.
Buckley’s last studio release,“SEFRONIA”1974, is the UK LP (K49201) from 1974, it was released in the States the previous year. It was a much more mainstream LP featuring other artists songs, like  Sally Go Round the Roses, Peanut Man, and two classic performances on Fred Neil’s “Dolphins” and Tom Waits “Martha”.  It was released with a Discreet label/logo (Zappa/Herb Cohen) through WEA UK.  The vinyl is in very good condition; very little surface noise, no bad scratches, jumps, clicks, and it doesn’t stick anywhere!  The cover shows only minor wear. I have owned it from new. It has been well looked after.

STARSAILOR, is a USA green Warners November 1970 release WB1881. It namechecks Straight Records on the front cover. Buckley was “managed” by Herb Cohen who was co-owner of Straight and later Discreet with Frank Zappa who, he also managed. The Starsailor LP is often quoted as being an avant-rock/jazz release, some of it is reminiscent of Straight label cohorts Zappa and Beefheart. Amongst the musicians who play on the LP are 1960(s)Mothers of Invention brass players Buzz and Bunk Gardner.  The LP and the cover show many signs of wear, in short it has been well played, not always carefully and the vinyl does have surface scratches, some of which can be heard, especially, but not only, between tracks. Song for the Siren does have audible scratches. But the LP is playable and listenable!  It has a hard card USA cover which also has signs of wear, visible on the photos, there are tape marks and smears on the back, there is wear and tear on the spine, and some writing on the rear cover. The front cover shows wear and tear too. This LP has no jumps or sticks and reflects its age, but most of us I think would have looked after it more carefully!
In short on offer is a very good copy of Sefronia and a Fair/Good Copy of Starsailor which is playable but does show signs of wear.
Thank you very much. Please email any questions.
