What you're looking at: BOTH, original LEXINGTON label records! I usually don't list more than one record in a lot, but this is a super cool find, and I couldn't resist listing them together. Both copies are pretty rough, but it is two original pressings of these early, rare Blue Note albums. The vinyl is deepgroove, has ears, RVG in the runout, and the original labels.
How they stack up:
RECORD (1507 - Volume 1): VG- (4.0 of 10) Plays through with background noise. Lots of little needle drop marks, and the vinyl looks dull. The art looks decent.
SLEEVE (1507 - Volume 1): G (2.0 of 10) Bottom is held together with tape, top is almost split. Spine is cracking, and the edge looks shredded in some areas.
RECORD (1508 - Volume 2): G (1.5 of 10) Lots of scratching.
SLEEVE (1508 - Volume 2): G (2.0 of 10) Entire bottom seam has been repaired with manilla stripping; as well as 6" on the spine. Top is holding together. Art looks decent, but lots of wear.
NOTE: I am listing a few great jazz albums that I recently acquired. There are Blue Note, Prestige, Savoy, and some others. Most of the albums are in VG condition, but a few are in VG+ -- check them out!
NOTE: I'm happy to say that I can now vacuum clean ALL records that are sold!
MY GRADING SCALE:
OK, my goal is to be as specific as I can without being ridiculously wordy. I give one of these (from worst to best): G, G+, VG-, VG, VG+, VG++. That is it. No more letters, thus VG++ is a very good record. NM does NOT exist in my scale.
AFTER THE GENERAL GRADING SCALE, I have a second number in parenthesis, which is meant to be more specific. I find that a number is more specific than a general sector of opinion, thus the number will be between 1 and 10. This is meant to give you a more-specific idea of what you are getting into audio quality wise, the former is more for visual.
That being said, I play with a customized Thorens TD 165 through Polk Speakers and a Pioneer receiver. If I played the record, I will write so in the description; otherwise, I listen to small parts of the record for testing -- not the whole thing.
RETURNS: Generally returns are a no go, unless you have a compelling reason; also, I will give a TWO week grace period for exchanges (that means the buyer pays shipping back to me if they want a return). I give plenty of chances to see what you’re buying (audio clips, emails, two part grading system and a full policy description) and, as I see it, the buyer has as much responsibility as the seller to a) know what they are buying and b) have the decency to ask prior to purchase.
COMBINED SHIPPING: I charge a flat rate of $4 for one record, which covers postage, plastic sleeves, replacement inserts, shipping boxes, etc … After that, if you purchase more, it is $1 extra for each record domestically.
INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: I now will ship overseas of whatever the quote is. so CHECK THE QUOTE BEFORE BIDDING!!
