Description

2LPs: Reiner & The Chicago - ALSO SPRACH ZARATHUSTRA - 1/2 Speed Mastered Rca by Mobile Fidelity MFSL1-522 -&- Rca VICS-1265 Plum - SUPERB! - TAS

Unquestionably one of Reiner's most famous performances, the Zarathustra sessions in 1954 have been hailed as the birth of high-end stereo.

Fact is, though, even Reiner, who everyone agreed was THE interpreter of Strauss, believed he could do better. And so, a monstrous Mohr/Layton session was begun in 1962, to capture an audio prize beyond compare.

This is the re-mastered MFSL of that performance, specially plated and pressed on high-definition vinyl by Victor in Japan. To say that it is a blockbuster is simply not enough. It blows doors down with its capture of space, low-end, and the panoramic sweep of the 109-man orchestra.

This copy is very fine. Jacket is crisp, with a record within that should play near mint.

A classic of extraordinary proportion, here with a VICS release, recorded March 8, 1954, for you to compare performances. This is the original Plum label issue, first stamper, with light work, here and there, that should serve you well as a demonstration piece.
