Description
Here I have for sale two UK Royal Navy related 'soundtrack' albums released by the BBC in 1978 and 1979 – The Last Farewell (H.M.S. Ark Royal) and Sailor! A Picture In Sound Of The Royal Navy.
Condition:
Vinyl: NM. Clean surface on visual inspection. Play well with no skipping, jumping and sticking.
Covers and sleeves: NM. Minor edge wear on top and spine of Sailor album but colours are unfaded and clean. Very good examples.
HMS Ark Royal (R09) was an Audacious-class aircraft carrier of the Royal Navy and, when she was decommissioned in 1979, was the Royal Navy's last remaining conventional catapult and arrested-landing aircraft carrier. Her predecessor, HMS Ark Royal, was the Royal Navy's first aircraft carrier to be equipped with an angled flight deck.
Also reaching the UK pop charts with a version of "The Last Farewell" was the Marine Band of HMS Ark Royal, just before the aircraft carrier was decommissioned by the Royal Navy in December 1978. It topped out at number 41 in January 1979.
