RARE ASCH RECORDING OF RICHARD DYER-BENNET SINGING FAMILIAR BALLADS!!
Album is solidly bound, with light to moderate edge and corner wear, age-toning of white spaces inside front and rear covers, sleeves solidly bound. Illustration by David Stone-Martin. All three 78's look quite playable, with typical scratches along the surface among generally clean shellac. I'll grade these VG+.
Songs include John Henry, I Once Loved a Girl, The Three Ravens (in 3 parts), Gently Johnny My Jingalo, and Barbara Allen.
On Richard Dyer-Bennet from the internet: "Richard Dyer-Bennet (1913-1991), a major figure in the folk music revival of the 1940s-1970s, performed English ballads and European and American folk songs, blending indigenous rural and traditional materials with a unique musicality and urban artistry. Dissatisfied with his earlier recordings, Dyer-Bennet founded his own record company, in partnership with Harvey Cort, in 1955 to ensure that his recordings would truly reproduce his voice and guitar as they sounded in live performance and that the songs on each record would be grouped as on his concert programs. Dyer-Bennet Records were released to high critical acclaim."
