3 LP EARLY ROOTS REGGAE / CALYPSO LOT: Mighty Terror, Growler, Dictator - MORE..



Offered, in one lot, are these three separate, hard to find releases from the 1950s.  Cavalcade of Calypso and Calypso Varieties are in 10" format, and Virgin Isles Calypso Festival is in 12" :



# 1 :

Cavalcade Of Calypso

THE VINYL : VG+ : The LP surfaces retain much of their original gloss, with moderate spindlewear evident on the labels. Present on both sides are some light marks, including sleevewear and hairlines. There are no deep marks, and the audio quality is strong and clear, with no sticking and no skips.

The deadwax matrix identifiers include the "Plastylite Ear" associated with 1st Edition Pressings (please see below for complete matrix).




THE COVER :  VG+ : This is one creepy front cover (particularly for the early 1950's era) with the zombie-like musician photo featured on the front. A great historical and artistic expression of the Voodoo influence on Caribbean music.

The cover is made of a heavier cardboard stock / both seams and the spine are intact / the front cover shows moderate scuffing and some dirt showing on this predominantly white cover / there is a wrinkle in the front lower left corner / "EUR" written in pencil on the front right corner.


We have placed both the cover and the LP into separate, protective plastic sleeves.

Note :  The "plastylite ear" symbol appears before the "D" on both side A and B, and resembles a stylized letter P.

# 2 :

This is the 1st Edition release of the 1957 Virgin Isles Calypso Festival (please see the photos) and is on  the Tarco Label (AT - 501).

It is lightly played with no visible marks, and in EX+ condition.  The cover has fabulous cover artwork, and is also EX+.

Calypso Varieties From Bermuda: Hubert Smith - The Mighty Skipper - and the Coral Islanders

This 10" release (on Bermuda Records label) is in VG+ (both the vinyl and the cover). The cover has been taped.  Please see the front cover photo for the tracklist.
