This is a series of 3 12inch RADIO TRANSCRIPTION DISKS of a show called "LITTLE MISS BABO", featuring the amazing 12 year old vocalist, MARY SMALL. They play at 33 1/3 RPM. This was broadcast on MARCH 17, 1935.  This was broadcast over WEAF in New York City.  These recordings were made personally for BERT HIRSCH.    It's hard to imagine a 12 year old girl with the voice and poise that Mary Small has on these very rare radio shows. The sponsors would offer a copy of her birth certificate to those who didn't believe she was 12 years old!
This show is COMPLETE. Others that I'll be listing may be missing a disk or so, but each one is a treasure to listen to. They start out with the NBC chimes and an announcer saying "This is WEAF - NEW YORK" Then about 7 seconds later, the them of the program "Glow Worm" starts in and the announcer talks about the show.

  The Musical Director of this program was BERT HIRSCH, whom many collectors will remember from the HIT-OF-THE-WEEK paper records that came out during the beginning of the depression.
Many years ago, I went to an estate auction in Connecticut, and purchased a couple of large boxes of old Radio Transcriptions that belonged to the estate of BERT HIRSCH. They had been sealed for many years. I paid a great deal for these as there was some clown with deep pockets who wanted them to nail to the walls of his music room for effect!! Even after the auction he wanted to buy a few from me for that reason...didn't happen. As I don't have a transcription player here, I rigged one together so I could hear a few of these recordings. The sound quality is just amazing! I only listened to a few.   BERT HIRSCH was a violinist, bandleader and musical contractor for many years in the New York area. He used the top men of the era like Bunny Berigan, the Dorsey Brothers and many more on his records and radio broadcasts. And Berigan does sound like he's in the band on a couple of shows. There many here that I'll be listing that I haven't been able to listen to! Why?? Divorce, 'nuff said.

  The condition of these record is quite good. Quite possibly never played before until I did, but can't be certain. Still has the original sleeve. I really haven't cleaned these more than a piece of damp flannel and lightly wiped with dry flannel. The marks you may see on some of the photos were made from the sleeve and not scratches, or even really scuffs. Very well recorded with a great sound. And please excuse the photos..I did what I could with them.
