Description
Here’s a boxed set of “Music Out of the Moon” on 3 vintage 45 rpm vinyl records (Capitol CCF 2000). Work by Les Baxter, Harry Revel and Dr. Samuel Hoffman & his Theremin create the mid-Twentieth Century “exotica” sound. The Capitol label numbers are 54-20161, 20162, and 20163. CONDITION: Visually, 61 and 62 seem NM or NM-. The dead wax run-out on 63 shows some dulling, so VG+ might be more reasonable. All three have excellent inner sleeves crisp and clean but for a “71” pencil-written on one. The outer box is still sturdy and clean with peeling of the cover photo under the word “Moon” and another small peel beneath model Virginia Clark’s left arm.
Liner notes on the box’s reverse are still quite readable, offering information about the Harry Revel / Leslie (not Les) Baxter collaboration and the addition of the Theremin instrumentation via Dr. Samuel J. Hoffman’s contributions.
