pretty unique lot of 3 LP's by THE FUGS all previously in the possesion of novelist/writer of the Beat Generation JAN CREMER (incl.autographed)
the records are:
the fugs first album esp 1018
the fugs esp 1028
the fugs 3 (run off groove says esp 1038; comes in Comic Book Heroes sleeve)
the last one is a while labeled LP only. The blanc sleeve has a notation that looks to say "Filmstudio ..... Party" -i don't know what it says.
i do know that ed sanders, ken weaver and tuli kupferberg were often in the Jan Cremer studios in the chelsea hotel as friends.
Jan Cremer made name with his still best selling I JAN CREMER book.
THIS LOT IS ACCOMPANIED BY A NOTE OF AUTHENCITY SAYING THAT THIS LOT OF LP's WERE IN HIS POSSESSION AND THE NOTE IS AUTOGRAPHED ALSO BY JAN CREMER.
some info on Jan Cremer from the date of these LP's as he lived in New York:
1964
Literary debut with I Jan Cremer. Lives in London and settles in New York at the end of 1964, where he paints large 'Dutch Landscapes' and produces, together with the poet/art critic Frank O'Hara, curator at the Museum of Modern Art, the portfolio 'The New York/Amsterdam Set'. In November 1964 the first 100.000 copies of his debut novel are sold in the Netherlands and several translations are underway. Red Room installation in Galerie Amstel 47 in cooperation with Gustave Asselbergs.
1965-1966
Appears in various films, including 'Een zondag op het eiland Grand Jatte' by Frans Weisz and 'Galaxie' by Gregory Markoupoulos, with W.H. Auden and Susan Sontag. Various translations of his first book, including American, German, English and Japanese editions. Travels through different States of America to promote the American edition.
1965-1976
Studio in the Chelsea Hotel. Through Frank O'Hara comes in contact with Andy Warhol, 'Baby Jane' Holzer, Gregory Markoupoulos, Roy Lichtenstein, and Howard Kanowitz. Friendship with Willem de Kooning, Marisol, Larry Rivers, Allan d'Arcangelo.
1966
Journey through South America, including Colombia and Venezuela. Is commissioned by Warhol to write a film script for the Filmmakers Cinematheque in New York and by Bob Dylan to design an album cover and a book jacket.
1966-1968
Lives for the first quarter of the year in Hollywood, California, in order to work on film scenarios.
1967
Editor-in-chief of the American pop music magazine Hullabaloo. Co-founder of New Wave Publications.
