Description
Anyone after a 5" Berliner? one of the very first gramophone records made. This one has writing in German on the front, has number 31 embossed, also No 66 hand scribed on the front.
On the reverse are the words for a rhyme 'Alfred Jones', and you can probably see the patent dates of Nov 1887 and May 1888 at the foot of the pink sheet of words glued on, as was the custom with these records.
This has been in my collection for many years, but it is time for it to move on to enable me to fund more phonographs.
This is a very rare item - I have only seen three 5" Berliners in forty years of collecting!
Please note that carriage + insurance is free in the UK only.
Foreign Buyers will need to enquire at the end of the sale. The best thing is that the parcel is not very heavy. The cost of carriage will have to be tracked and to include some insurance if available. I cannot be responsible for any loss in carriage.
